The eye is a camera. This simple truth, learnt during my formative years as a medical research scientist, profoundly shaped my understanding of photography. While I initially regarded it as a casual pastime, the influence of my father—a dedicated professional in the field—sparked a lasting fascination within me, leading me to explore the incredible range of what can be captured through the lens.
When I pick up my camera, my intention is clear: to reveal the stories hidden within ordinary objects during commonplace moments. Each click of the shutter invites me to capture a narrative—a delicate interplay of geometric shapes, dynamic body movements, the flight of a bird, or striking color combinations. The emotions stirred in those fleeting seconds guide my hand.
My photography is an authentic representation of what I see. I believe in the power of raw, unaltered images—so each photograph is a truthful reflection of my experience, where the camera serves as an extension of my eye and my voice.
Throughout my journey, I have drawn inspiration from a diverse array of photographers who have influenced my perspective. The raw and genuine photojournalism of Gordon Parks captivates me with its immediacy and emotion, while architectural photographer Jim DelGuidice and jazz photographer Bill Neal showcase the beauty found in form and movement. Additionally, landscape photographer William Neill and former U.N. photographer John Isaac expand my understanding of environment, and wildlife photographers Joe and Mary Ann McDonald have imparted lessons about capturing the majesty of nature’s creatures in their natural habitats.
